There are two Winding Wheels. These were installed in 2010.
In July 2010 the placing of half pit Winding Wheels were installed at Church Street, Heanor and High Street Loscoe. The Town Council placed these Winding Wheels as a lasting tribute to the sacrifice of local miners in helping the area develop and in recognition of the mining community.
The first Winding Wheel is located on Mansfield Road, Heanor and the second next to St Luke's Church at Loscoe.
